Institute of Art and Culture Delavnica Maribor sets its goal in co-creating contemporary Slovene culture and is focused on contributing to classical music, which - we believe - for its survival in modern society needs more and more motivation and a very strong and honest relationship between listener and musician. Delavnica shares resolute approach to sincere and detailed playing of music within its musical-formal and historical practise, supports exchange of rich artistic experience among young players and already renowned musicians. Moreover, it has already demonstrated an innovative approach by its choice of repertoire which in every way should broaden the interest in playing and listening to classical music. In the association, there are currently two orchestras and a brass trio.
Besides, every year Slovene composers of younger and older generation are invited to write new compositions which are then performed and presented at the concerts. We also want to connect music with other arts - poetry, theatre, film and other to share the passion for music with broad public.
Moreover, we are eager to educate children who are to become young listeners. The main goal of the association is to advance the knowledge and awareness of the classical music. Our target audience is elementary school-age children (and their parents) who have had little or no exposure to the classical music.
