Maribor International Orchestra 2012 - Academy 2010
15 July – 5 August
This year, the MIO2012 ACADEMY 2010 musicians will study two large-scale symphonic programs under the principal conductor Klaus Arp, conductor Živa Ploj Peršuh, and tutors - the soloists of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Radio Television Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. These works will then be performed as a part of the MIO2012 Tour 2010 in the summer. Both programs focus on the idea of connecting and being European, including the notions of diversity and variety. The first of the symphonic programs underlines the former - diversity of nationalities of the authors whose ideas of the heroic, revolutionary, love and admiration are combined to serve the music. The first orchestra program features works by Rossini, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. The second program focuses on people’s characters and variations of human fate as musically understood and composed by Tchaikovsky and Elgar. Accompanying this program there will be a master class for young conductors which will investigate selected works from the Academy’s 2010 repertoire. The MIO2012 Orchestra will be an orchestra in residence for the time of the Master Class in Conducting.
